Our Car has been designed over many years, it has undergone many modifications in order to improve its performance. After every modification it has been tested on our very own race track, and has been through comprehensive scrutineering. The Car started out as some drawings on a page and was later developed in CAD software Fusion 360, this then allowed us to use our CNC router to make the body of the car. The wings, wheel and nose cone are 3D printed by Renishaw, one of our sponsors. The Car has undergone further CMM testing at Renishaw, FEA and CFD analysis in Fusion 360 and Wind Tunnel testing at UWE. The back wing of the car is designed to act like a wing. Using data provided by UWE in our wind tunnel testing we were able to calculate a lift-drag coefficient for the wing, and the correct angle that it must be to the airflow in order to provide enough lift to counteract the weight of the CO2 cartridge. We have also painted the car in our own Blue Rockets Racing blue colour, to make our car look aesthetically pleasing.
